Flood in Kelantan - an acceptable natural phenomena for Kelantan's people?

2014 flood in Kelantan is one of the worst?

It is an unfortunate event but now I am not very sure. It is a yearly event but nothing seems to change after 30 years (my working careers). Now I wonder if the Malaysian government or the Kelantan State government or the Kelantan people had just accepted that flood will happen, property will destroyed, live will be lost and business will be disrupted and lots of money will be needed to rebuild the villages, towns and the city.

These few days I had tried hard to search (online) relevant technical papers that analyse the cause of the flood, the mitigation measures and the long term plan to solve this problem. Unfortunately most of the papers are about the impact of the flood to the people (social studies) but less on the long term mitigation.

There was one interesting study by JPS sometime in 1999 on the 'Kelantan River Flood Mitigation Project' but I just wonder whether any real mitigation plan was implemented.

May be it was just a study......live will go on....
May be it is just a place suitable for living 90% of the year which will get less and less as more forest are cleared and sea level rises due to global warming.
May be the rain will move southern ...
May be the tide will die down..
May be the moon will disappear...

Please do not think the public are stupid to listen to you and your cronies promises. ?

This include to the engineers who had spent their lifetime seating comfortably for more than 25 years in Proton thinking they are making Malaysia proud.

When I graduated sometime in 1982 most of the engineers during that period was so proud to joint companies like Proton, Perwaja and Mimos. It had been 32 years and these three companies keep on making promises to the public and spending money like they owned them. What have you done so far to the country?

Just stop for a while and think if the money that you used to bring up your family and kids up are honestly earned by you or was the money robbed from the public pocket.?

Go an take a break and think hard and think different !. You just spent 32 years of your lifetime robbing people on the day light.

Rain Every Evening but no water for shower !!!!

Am I staying in a wrong country?. It was raining almost everyday in Subang and Petaling Jaya but there was no water for shower and cooking.

What ever poor planning done by the government and politicians the public have to bear the cost and pain.

Is this what the 'unprecedented governance' all about.?

First give the multi billion Penang Second Bridge project to China Contractor, then the railway project, then the locomotive, then the port projects.......You know what the Chinese Govt use the money for!...... take an island less than 100km from Malaysia's shoreline.......I thought we have a cordial relation...

Class A contractor ? What is the criteria used by the authority ? Part 1

I wonder what is the criteria used by the authority to give class A license to contractors.

Failure of temporary works are very common nowadays even by class A contractor. 

Class A contractor should have adequate   professional and expert within their organisation to take full responsibilty of any temporary work. otherwise dont give them class A license.

CIDB or BEM  should stop asking the design consultant or supervision engineer to be responsible for checking and made responsible of any failure of temporary structure. This should be clearly stated to class A contractor or even to class b c etc.

If they can get the class A license to do multi million dollar project they should be able to spend some money to employ proper people to check their temporary once, twice , triple until it is super safe.

CIDB or BEM should by now realise what kind of material most of the contractor are using as their construction material . Quite often old or recycle material are used repeatedly. just visit to some of the class A project site and see what material they used for construction. who ever responsible for giving the license  should monitor these contractor instead of depending on the site engineering consultant. 

You dont need to police class A contractor unless they got the license through backdoor. !!! Let the consultant focus on the quality of work expected by the Client's and the Contractor fully responsible on how they will deliver the product. Simple logic.

I am not sure if BEM , IEM and CIDB are protecting the interest of contractor to protect the public interest at the expense of consulting engineer.

ACEM should protect the interest of their members by quickly limiting the duty in term of temporary works to just commenting but without any responsibility.

Again what is the criteria??

Say No to Full Withdrawal of EPF at 60

I think government have no more money and want to use public money to fund all their project and fund overseas property purchase....simple view.

If you can only collect your saving at 60 you will have not much chance to use the money to enjoy your saving unless you are strong enough to walk and drive all over the world.

Construction works of the Putra Line extension along Persiaran Kemajuan at USJ 20 seems to be running at full swing. The line will continue towards Putra Height and it will be connected to Star Line. 

Malaysia First Space Venture ?

A photo taken near Malaysia Space Centre, Banting . Not a space mission probably but just a watch tower. Can someone tell us what is going on inside this space centre ??. Are they talking to the alien or just gazing at stars and milky way. 

I do not think they have manage to attract the attention of  the surrounding neighbours. None of my niece or nephew who stay nearby can explain  to me what is the MSC station all about.....

So many government research bodies were set up but information are kept in their archives....

I started my interest in Astronomy 20 years ago while doing my A Level in UK. The fist book that I purchased was written by Carl Sagan. Later I spent 2 years reading all kind of UFO books. The last book related to aviation that I purchased  during my stay in Nottingham was a second hand book about German long range missile development used in the second world war.

Seismic Bearing Demo at Second Penang Bridge First Technical Conference

I took this video during a recent conference on Penang Second Bridge held in Kuala Lumpur. Among the speaker was a Director of Malaysia Rubber Research who was based in London. I must say the talk was good and should had impressed the audience on the role of seismic rubber bearing.

According to him a lot of rubber seismic bearing had been installed in the Penang Second Bridge.

My Own Version of Angry Birds

Last weekend was not that exciting at all. I decided to get my self busy again with the computer after a full month of computer free month during the Ramadhan.

I thought why not create my own version of angry birds. 24 hours after that thought I managed to create this
game called ANGRY BALLS. Since it used c++ instead of javascript I am not sure how to publish it on web.

Singa Pura Pura

Despite winning the soccer match against Malaysia I don't think Singapore is a team we need to respect. It was just like watching the match between Malaysia against South Korea during the 80s where dirty tactics are their biggest strategy . I think we should not allow them to participate in future Malaysian League. After all their players are not native Singaporean and the game does not appear to reflect the real capabilities of South East Asian.

Will the real Singa stands up ?
